Claim

Full-stack MCP outbound deployments fail because tooling costs and model error rates compound before any single workflow is validated. Connect one existing tool first, write one workflow in plain English, prove it works, then expand.

Mechanism

Each tool added to an MCP stack multiplies the surface area for model errors. Before the first workflow is validated, there is no baseline error rate to reason from. Adding tools at this stage stacks unknown-unknown failure modes. A single validated workflow gives a measurable error rate. Subsequent tools are added against a known baseline, and failure modes are bounded.

Holds when: teams are adopting MCP for outbound for the first time. Applies to any workflow where model errors have real consequences (prospect communications, CRM state changes). Fails when: a team already has validated MCP workflows in other functions and understands error profiles from prior deployments.

Evidence

Tatulea's May 20 issue of Prospecting from the Trenches (#132) documents the pattern from GTM teams actively building MCP outbound systems. The staged rule distinguishes internal research tasks, which can run unattended, from prospect-facing steps, which require a human checkpoint until error rates are understood.
